Lapland Fam Trip 2026: Discovering Finland’s Top Winter Travel Experiences at Halo Igloos, Beana Laponia, Rukan Salonki & Arctic Nook
Arctic Boutique Collection organized this Familiarization Trip in close collaboration with our partner accommodations to showcase exceptional stays and experiences to the international travel trade. Our intimate group of 6 participants, including select tour operators and DMCs, experienced truly personalized property inspections during peak season. By working directly with Halo Igloos, Rukan Salonki, Beana Laponia, and Arctic Nook, we created an immersive journey highlighting each property's unique positioning and offerings. From Halo Igloos' glass igloos with private reindeer and northern lights viewing to Rukan Salonki's authentic Finnish sauna traditions, Beana Laponia's adults-only wilderness boutique retreat, and Arctic Nook's modern Scandinavian design villas, each experience revealing why these unique accommodations continues to captivate discerning travelers.
Day 1: Halo Igloos Rovaniemi, Luxury Glass Igloos with Private Reindeer Enclosures
Our Lapland fam trip began at the newly opened Halo Igloos, located 25km from Rovaniemi centre, surrounded by arctic forest. This property features 26 luxury glass igloos facing the forest, each with private jacuzzi, and sauna designed for travellers seeking premium glass igloo accommodation.

Amenities include half board, daily opportunities to meet and feed the reindeers in the reindeer enclosure, complimentary shuttle service to Rovaniemi city center and Santa Claus Village, and complimentary snowshoes for self-guided snowshoe walks.

After a delicious breakfast, our group set out on the signature Reindeer Walk experience, wandering through snow-covered forests with gentle reindeer companion leading the way. It’s easy to see why this enchanting activity has become a favorite among international guests, offering both authentic connection with Lapland’s iconic animals and excellent value. In addition to the reindeer walk, Halo Igloos offers their own curated activities including northern lights hunting and guided snowshoeing. Additional winter safaris are expertly coordinated through neighbouring safari operator Safartica.

Property Development: Halo Igloos will add 36 family-sized igloos (double bed plus two extra beds) for winter 2026-2027, expanding beyond couples to family travelers (Read more about it here).
Day 2: Finnish Sauna Traditions and Winter Adventures at Rukan Salonki, Ruka
We traveled a scenic route to Ruka, one of Finland’s premier winter destinations. Rukan Salonki operates 20 luxury log chalets, from intimate 2-4 person Skyview Villas with aurora windows for northern lights viewing, to spacious 3-7 bedroom chalets with en-suite bathrooms in superior categories.

Our group stayed in their largest seven-bedroom chalet, ideal for small groups with generous common areas for evening networking.
We set out on a snowshoe expedition directly from the resort, winding through surrounding forests. Midway through our energizing snowshoe expedition, we paused for hot berry juice and biscuits before completing the trail and heading to Pyhäpiilo Sauna World.
The highlight was experiencing authentic Finnish sauna culture: a gentle smoke sauna followed by the unique ice sauna, offering a steam sauna like experience. The bravest took polar plunges into icy waters, and after we all relaxed in the outdoor jacuzzi.

Founder of the family-run resort, Marjo Mättä personally guided our sauna experiences, showcasing the property’s commitment to Finnish traditions.
Day 3: Chasing Northern Lights and Husky Adventures at Beana Laponia
Our journey continued 60 kilometers from Rovaniemi to Beana Laponia, an adults-only wilderness boutique resort with just 11 rooms. Owner Malla Holck and her welcoming team greeted us warmly before a swift check-in, with an evening adventure awaiting.

We immediately set out on snowmobiles across Beana Laponia’s private wilderness land, carving through pristine winter landscapes as darkness fell. Beana Laponia is always offering the tours in small groups with max. 10-12 participants.
The following morning delivered another exceptional experience: a 20-kilometer husky sledding expedition led by the owner’s son. True to Beana Laponia’s intimate approach, only the necessary number of huskies from their 100+ dog kennel joined us, creating a personalized journey. Refreshment breaks featured hot beverages and cookies, with plenty of time for photography in the stunning wilderness.

The property’s three new Lumen Design Suites, each with private jacuzzis and saunas, exemplify the elevated comfort awaiting guests at this exclusive retreat. All activities are conducted in small groups, ensuring exclusive experiences aligned with their boutique positioning.
Day 4: Immersing in Sámi Culture in Levi and chasing northern lights at Arctic Nook
Our final destination in Levi featured Arctic Nook’s design villas just outside the resort village. Each villa showcases modern Scandinavian design with private saunas, jacuzzis, and cozy fireplaces, creating warm, intimate spaces perfect for unwinding after Arctic adventures.

Two spacious villas accommodated our group, each with generous common areas, excellent for groups seeking both privacy and social spaces.
We learned more about the last indigenous people of Lapland, the Sami, by having a guided visit to Samiland Exhibition. Our guide Ante Aikio showcased authentic Sámi culture, featuring traditional joik singing and drumming with rich cultural insights, adding meaningful depth to the Arctic experience.

Our farewell raclette dinner provided excellent opportunities for trip debriefing and business discussions. Following dinner, the evening delivered an unforgettable surprise: spectacular Northern Lights danced across the Arctic sky, a magical finale to our Lapland journey.

We were delighted to showcase the beauty of Finland in winter and look forward to welcoming partners on our summer fam trip.
